the Hype: Built to Spill – There Is No Enemy

Posted in the Hype with tags , on August 19, 2009 by James Wales

Built to Spill is set to release their seventh full length on October 6th. What this means to you. Built to Spill has not released a bad album as they continue to get older. You in Reverse, though not as good as the classics (Keep It Like a Secret, Perfect From Now On), was still a very solid release. I would even argue that the track, Goin’ Against You Mind, is one of their best. So with the current trend in hand. I’m going to say that the new Built to Spill album will probably fall under the really good to fucking amazing catagory. So if you havn’t checked them out yet, do so now and get ready for what’s sure to be on many top ten lists this year.

There Is No Enemy:

1 Aisle 13
2 Hindsight
3 Nowhere Lullaby
4 Good Ol‘ Boredom
5 Life’s a Dream
6 Oh Yeah
7 Pat
8 Done
9 Planting Seeds
10 Things Fall Apart
11 Tomorrow

the Hype: The Mountain Goats – The Life of the World to Come

Posted in the Hype with tags , on July 28, 2009 by James Wales

This is a new series dedicated to upcoming releases.

He’s back. And much anticipated. After 2008′s Heretic Pride, John Darnielle and company return with a theme-vengence (at that to the dictionary). Their new album, slated to be released Oct. 6th, is called The Life of the World to Come. In typical Mountain Goats fashion, there is a theme. A biblical theme. That’s right, all of the tracks on the new album will be named after biblical verses. I can’t wait. Check out the new song, Genesis 3:23 (thanks pitchfork).

01 1 Samuel 15:23
02 Psalms 40:2
03 Genesis 3:23
04 Philippians 3:20-21
05 Hebrews 11:40
06 Genesis 30:3
07 Romans 10:9
08 1 John 4:16
09 Matthew 25:21
10 Deuteronomy 2:10
11 Isaiah 45:23
12 Ezekiel 7 and the Permanent Efficacy of Grace
