You locked the door and put them old records on, I hear you crying along

Must see flick of the weekend?  No, it’s not Cloudy with A Chance of Meatballs.  It’s Magnolia Electric Co: Recording Josephine.  It’s a great look into the process that went into one of the best albums of the year.  There’s also a fair amount of songs that didn’t make the record (um, can I get a copy of Arrabelle, like right now?  It sounds like the perfect Fall song: “the pumpkins nearly jump the vine.”)  Additionally, if you stick around until the end of chapter 10 you’ll see yours truly, and my Beard colleague Mr James Wales, in the crowd at the Abbey Pub.  Molina’s metaphor for the album near the end of the film is apt, and the films ends perfectly.  Seriously, this is well worth your time.  Let this film deepen your appreciation of a soon-to-be classic album, or use it as an excuse to fall in love with Jospehine.
